On August 1st, the new weight categories for the sport of weightlifting officially went into effect! We’ve updated the record standards and procedures for the New York WSO. 2026 National Championships Week Results
Congratulations to all those who represented the NY WSO during the 2026 National Championships Week in Colorado Springs, Colorado! 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘢𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘴... 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 Sadie Cirbus (U13 58) earned two gold medals: 44 kg SN, 104 kg Total, and a bronze medal: 60 kg CJ. Sadie's performance earned her the title of National Youth Champion! Adam Hawrylchak (U17 88) earned a bronze medal: 214 kg Total.

Liam broke the 108 kg SN and 242 kg Total records previously held by Robert Rohde along with his own 137 kg CJ record. 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗻 Junior Men, 94 kg. Records: 127 kg SN, 268 kg Total. Registration is now open for the 2026 New York State Weightlifting Championships. Early Bird registration runs from Monday, June 1 through Tuesday, June 30. Regular registration will take place from Wednesday, July 1 through Monday, August 31. This event sells out quickly every year, and a waitlist will be created once capacity is reached. Sara Soto Appointed Vice Chair of USA Weightlifting BOD
Posted by USAW on April 15, 2026: "Sara Soto has been elected by her peers to serve as Vice Chair of the USA Weightlifting Board of Directors, filling the role vacated by Tayler Harris. Soto is currently an At-Large Director on a 2025-28 term, and will serve as Vice Chair through 2026 to complete Harris’ vacated term. She will serve alongside current Chair of the Board, Michael Choi. Separately, Soto was also appointed as the Board of Directors Liaison to the USAW Foundation
