Posted by USAW on April 15, 2026: "Sara Soto has been elected by her peers to serve as Vice Chair of the USA Weightlifting Board of Directors, filling the role vacated by Tayler Harris. Soto is currently an At-Large Director on a 2025-28 term, and will serve as Vice Chair through 2026 to complete Harris’ vacated term. She will serve alongside current Chair of the Board, Michael Choi. Separately, Soto was also appointed as the Board of Directors Liaison to the USAW Foundation."

A huge congratulations to Sara Soto on her recent selection as Vice Chair of the USA Weightlifting Board of Directors!

Sara has worked tirelessly in the sport for over a decade, starting as an athlete, becoming a local referee, and eventually progressing to a Category 1 IWF Technical Official. She generously donates her time and expertise to local, national, and international events. No doubt, if you’ve been around the NY meet scene or attended one of the larger competitions across the country, you’ve seen Sara with a big smile and infectious positive energy, lifting up everyone around her.

In addition to her work as a Technical Official, Sara has contributed to the sport through governance. After serving with the Metropolitan LWC and the NY WSO Committee, she went on to join the USA Weightlifting Board of Directors as an At-Large Director and has now been selected to serve as Vice Chair.

It’s clear to anyone paying attention that Sara cares deeply about this sport, and we’re excited to see her continue making an impact in this new role.

Congratulations, Sara!
