Congratulations to Elias Horn and Maria Lopez Guardone for breaking New York state records in January!
On January 4th, Elias’s 111 kg snatch, 140 kg clean and jerk, and 251 kg total broke the records in the youth men’s age group and 96 kg weight class. Elias improved upon his own snatch record by 1 kilo and total record by 15 kilos. The clean and jerk record was previously held by Andrew Smith who clean and jerked 130 kg at the Nick Curry Memorial on December 12th, 2019.
On January 18th, Maria’s 73 kg snatch, 95 kg clean and jerk, and 168 kg total all improved upon her own state records in the masters women’s 35-39 age group and 87 kg weight class. The previous records were 70 kg on the SN, 90 kg on the CJ, and 160 kg on the total which were all set at the 2024 NYC Regional.
