Congratulations to WSO Athlete Representative Michelle Woogen on earning her National Referee credential!
Michelle has dedicated countless hours to studying the IWF rulebook and volunteering at both local and national events. She’s taken on nearly every role—loader, referee, speaker, weigh-ins, marshal—and even shadowed as a competition secretary at the Arnold this past March.
We’re incredibly proud of Michelle for passing the written exam back in May and the practical evaluation during this year’s National Championships week to earn this well-deserved advancement. Her hard work and commitment to the sport continue to inspire us all.

“I am thrilled and honored to become an USAW National Technical Official. What started as a recommendation by a coach of mine to become a local referee has blossomed into a love and passion. I cannot put into words how much joy it brings me to be gifted the opportunity to support athletes and their coaches so that they may have a positive experience and create core memories at each meet. In addition, I adore the technical official community, which is comprised of the most wonderful people within this sport, who are truly so supportive, inspirational, and funny. If anyone is interested in becoming a technical official or wants to learn more, I 100% welcome them to reach out to me; it would be my pleasure to pay forward the unconditional support I have received thus far. In the meantime, I look forward to my continued growth as a National official, while I set my sights on the next level: IWF Category 2 International Technical Official.”
Congrats again, Michelle!! 🙌
